Tarrays Pty Ltd  is committed to ensuring that we handle your personal information, including how it is captured, collected, stored, used and disclosed in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (the Privacy Act). The NPPs govern the way in which we collect, use, disclose, store, secure and dispose of your Personal Information.



What is Personal Information and why do we collect it?

Personal Information is information or an opinion that identifies an individual. Examples of Personal Information we collect include: names, addresses, email addresses, phone and facsimile numbers.  We may also collect information about you relevant to any job vacancies or employer requirements such as your skills, qualifications, accreditations, evidence of right to work in Australia, bank and superannuation details, aptitude or psychological test assessment results, technical or skills data, your employment history or other relevant information. We may also collect other types of your personal information such as references, police checks and employment objectives during the course of dealing with you, for example if you have applied for or you are being considered for a particular employment position.

This Personal Information is obtained in many ways which may include: interviews, correspondence, by telephone and facsimile, by email, via our website, from your website, from media and publications, from other publicly available sources, from cookies and from third parties. We don’t guarantee website links or policy of authorised third parties.

We may use and disclose the personal information that we have collected to third parties including but not limited to:

  • To provide our services to assist you in finding or retaining work
  • To provide our services to assist you or your company in acquiring suitable talent
  • To assist you in your career management, performance or training
  • To assist with any testing or assessments that you may be required to do
  • To assist with the due diligence as requested by clients
  • To assist with any workplace rehabilitation
  • To your nominated referees
  • To any government authority or law enforcement body
  • To assist with analysis of human resources and labour markets



We will gain your consent before we refer your personal information to our clients for any possible work opportunities. 



Sensitive Information

Sensitive information is defined in the Privacy Act to include information or opinion about such things as an individual's racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, membership of a political association, religious or philosophical beliefs, membership of a trade union or other professional body, criminal record or health information.  We may also collect sensitive information about you which is relevant to your employability or employment history, this may include health, reasons for previous terminations of employment and criminal history information.



Third Parties

Where reasonable and practicable to do so, we will collect your Personal Information only from you. However, in some circumstances we may be provided with information by third parties. In such a case and where relevant or required, we will take reasonable steps to ensure that you are made aware of the information provided to us by the third party.

Use and Disclosure of Personal Information

We will only ever disclose your personal information for the purposes for which it is held or where we are under a legal duty to do so.


Disclosure will usually be:

  • To our clients where you have provided consent
  • To referees provided by you when we are conducted reference checks

Internally and to our related entities 



Related Purpose Disclosures

From time to time we will outsource various services to Contracted Service Suppliers (CSPs). In the course of providing a service to us, our CSPs may see some of your personal information. Some of the CSPs may include:


  • Software and technology providers;
  • IT contractors and Internet service suppliers;
  • Legal and other professional advisors;
  • Insurance brokers, underwriters, loss assessors;
  • Accountants and Superannuation fund managers;
  • Background checking and screening agents.

When appointing our CSPs we take reasonable steps to ensure that these providers are bound by our obligations to protect the privacy of your personal information and that there is no possible breach to these obligations. 



Security of Personal Information

Your Personal Information is stored in a manner that reasonably protects it from misuse and loss and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

When your Personal Information is no longer needed for the purpose for which it was obtained, we will take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify your Personal Information. However, most of the Personal Information is or will be stored in client files which will be kept by us for a minimum of 7 years.



Access to your Personal Information

You may access the Personal Information we hold about you and to update and/or correct it, subject to certain exceptions. If you wish to access your Personal Information, please contact us in writing.



Tarrays Pty Ltd will not charge any fee for your access request, but may charge an administrative fee for providing a copy of your Personal Information.

In order to protect your Personal Information we may require identification from you before releasing the requested information.



Maintaining the Quality of your Personal Information

It is important to us that your Personal Information is up to date. We will take reasonable steps to make sure that your Personal Information is accurate, complete and up-to-date. If you find that the information we have is not up to date or is inaccurate, please advise us as soon as practicable so we can update our records and ensure we can continue to provide quality services to you.
